Six things you might not know about me…
Twelve songs that have impacted my life and career…
Love Story – Taylor Swift
This was the first song I ever sang solo at a talent show.
Last Bow – Marta Palombo
This was the first original solo song I shared with my peers and got feedback on.
Skinny Love – Bon Iver
This was the first time I heard a combination of folky, indie, and alternative production that inspired me to experiment more with my music.
Case of You – Joni Mitchell
This was the first time I heard a high voice with lots of vibrato in a commercial setting. When I was studying classical and still figuring out how to belt, that was all I had, and Joni helped me realize that that could be commercial and I shouldn’t shy away from it.
Twin Flames – Epica
Epica is of my favorite symphonic metal bands, that showed me there are no limits to composition and genres are fake. You can have an opera singer, an orchestra, electric guitars, and screaming and it’s going to sound badass.
Mowgli’s Road – Marina
This is one of my favorite songs to sing, and the song that got me through many auditions.
Him – Marta Palombo
This was the first song I had that received international acclaim and that launched my career as an artist once I solidified my sound.
E lucevan le stelle – Puccini
This was the first opera I ever saw was Tosca, and it made me fall in love with everything the human voice could do.
Tokyo Sunrise – LP
This is one of my favorite artists and she looks a lot like me! Her voice is so different and again she made me fall in love with how unique voices can be.
Dog Days Are Over – Florence + The Machine
This is the first song I remember listening to when I was young and thinking, “Wait…this is different and I love it.” It made me explore corners of production and vocals that I hadn’t heard before.
Forget What They See – Marta Palombo
This was the first song I ever filmed a music video for and it’s still one of my favorite and most educational experiences to this day.
All Too Well – Taylor Swift
This is a song I keep coming back to as an example of superb songwriting.
