Once in a while a song comes along that really touches your heart. “Love or Dreams” is the perfect combination of melody and lyrical relatability. It captures the universal struggle of having to choose between two loves.

What’s your favorite family tradition?
My favorite family tradition is how we celebrate birthdays. I have a recipe for lima bean and dumpling soup that was passed down from my grandmother. It takes all day to cook and I roll out the dumplings by hand. I typically stay out of the kitchen for everyone’s sake, but I love making this family favorite recipe on birthdays.
I can’t point to any particular artist and say that’s why I got into music, but I’m inspired by so many people in this business because they are strong! They have to be, especially the women! It’s hard enough to put your music out there and be judged on it, but, too many times, artists are judged by their physical appearance (age, weight, perceived attractiveness, skin color, or other factors completely unrelated to music). Anyone who can continue to put themselves out there under that kind of scrutiny is a hero in my book.
What is something you’ve never shared before about yourself?
Something I have never shared before is that my family raised and raced standardbred horses when I was growing up. Some of my fondest memories are of taking care of the horses as a family and going to the race track to root for one of our horses.
If I could live in any other era of history, it would be ___ because ___.
I don’t think I would want to live in any other era of history. Our world is not perfect, but technology today is so much more advanced than it was even 30 years ago. I like having so much information at my fingertips. I would be more interested in living in the future and seeing how technology continues to change our lives.

One thing on my bucket list is to sing a duet with Garth Brooks. He is such an amazing artist and entertainer. I would love the opportunity to learn from him firsthand.
If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?
If I was a superhero, I would have the power to teleport from place to place instantly. I could save so many lives that way and as a bonus I could go visit family and friends who don’t live nearby.

These songs have inspired me in so many ways both professionally and personally. Some have the most clever lyrics and hooks, some are raw and real, and some speak of acceptance. I love when songs make you feel something and are relatable. Many of these songs have stood the test of time and that has taught me what good songwriting is.
